VCDS (VAG-COM) коды

The following VCDS codes are to be used on your own risk, and if code changes have been made - from now on, you have to remember to tell your workshop about the manual code changes, each time you are there.
If the workshop receive a software update from Audi and the workshop doesn't remember or doesn't know about the changes, the coding will be overwritten with the default coding, which Audi have registered for your car. The default coding Audi know of can't be changed/overwritten with your new coding - as far as I know.

Trip Computer on Premium Trim (U.S.): (Thanks to: Cabal_san - from AudiWorld Forums)
It does not make sense why Audi disabled the trip computer on the Premium trim - there are no hardware limitations, besides no controls on the wiper stalk..
Enable:
17 Instruments, Byte 1, bit 2
56 Radio, Byte 9, bit 6
This adds and entry "Instrument Cluster" in the Car menu. Within that menu you will see On-Board Computer 1 and On-Board Computer 2. Within these menus, check whichever computer function you want to see on the DIS. Because the Premium trim does not have the wiper stalk controls to toggle between selected items, you can only have one item checked between these two menus. This checked item will be displayed on the DIS.

Enabling of Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) on A4/A5 (B8)
Download this DIY as PDF: Enabling of Tire Pressure Monitoring System on A4/A5 (B8)
Prerequisite:
The ABS unit exist in two versions (which can be found on a sticker in the service book or in the trunk where the spare wheel is located - look in section #5)
1AT - ESP ready for TMPS 1AS - ESP not ready for TPMS

The pattern seen until now, shows that 1AS won't work.
Known to work on ABS units:
Part No: 8K0 907 379 AH Component: ESP8 quattro H04 0230
Part No: 8K0 907 379 S Component: ESP8 quattro H04 0210
Part No: 8K0 907 379 R Component: ESP8 front H04 0210
Part No: 8K0 907 379 AQ Component: ESP8 front H03 0210
The retrofit/enabling:
Enable the TPMS MMI item (the menu item will be grayed out - disabled for now):
MMI high (MMI 2G):
[07 - Control Head] [Adaptation - 10] -> Channel 01 add 16 to the existing value
MMI basic (MMI 2G):
[07 - Control Head] [Coding - 07] xxxx?xx add 2 to the existing value of the 3nd to last digit
MMI Plus (MMI 3G):
[5F - Information Electr.] Not know yet how to enable the TPMS menu item with VCDS.... BUT can be enabled through the "hidden menu": - select 'RDK' in 'car/cardevicelist' - put 'Tires Air Pressure Control' on 5 in 'car/carmenuoperations'
non-MMI (symphony/concert radio):
[56 - Radio] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 8 Bit 6 - TPMS Settings active
Enable the 'connection' between ABS/ESP and the TPMS MMI menu item (the menu item get activated), by setting:
[03 - ABS Brakes] [Security Access - 16] (probably with login code: 61378) [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 1 Bit 3 - Tire Pressure Monitoring (PR-7K6) active (1 = active)

The TPMS need to be enabled in the Instrument Cluster:
[17 - Instruments] [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 4 Bit 0 - Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPMS) installed (1 = active)
MMI should now be restarted.

The TPMS MMI menu then look like this:

Testing the TPMS system:
After the 'teach-in process', I lowered the tyre pressure twice - first by 0.2 bar, and then by another 0.2 bar (it is not a real life scenario, but it was working) - I drove 10 to 15 km on a motorway, no error with the first 0.2 bar, but with the second I got this warning in my DIS almost right away after about 3 km:

The message "Please check tyre pressure (xxxx)" will flash a couple of times together with a warning sound - after that only the small tyre symbol on the top will be shown, and it will continue to flash, until the system has been reset (tyre pressure fault has been solved).
The teach-in process: The teach-in process is performed once after the SET key is pressed for the low tyre pressure indicator. During the next trip, the control unit saves the measured wheel speeds and the vibration characteristics of the wheels in various vehicle operating states. The vehicle operating states are basically defined by the following parameters: vehicle speed, steering angle, transverse acceleration and yaw velocity. These teach-in values subsequently make up the target data which is used for monitoring. After approximately 10 minutes of driving, it is already possible to detect a breakdown (rapid loss of pressure). Approximately 60 minutes of driving are required to detect diffusion loss (slow loss of pressure).
The following displays are possible: In the event of a rapid loss of pressure at a single wheel (tyre damage), the red warning lamp is activated. If the vehicle a driver information system, an additional text display appears indicating the position of the wheel affected. In case of slow loss of pressure, which occurs gradually at multiple wheels due to diffusion, the red warning lamp is also activated. In this case, the optional text display appears but no positional information is given. The displays are activated when the tyre pressure drops below an a coded minimum value. When system faults are detected, the yellow warning lamp is activated.

How the Lap Timer works
Download the below description as PDF: How the Lap Timer works

Calling up the lap timer With the ignition switched on, keep pressing the "Reset" button B until the lap timer appears.
Starting the lap time Press the top part of A to start a lap timer session
Storing the lap time Press the top part of A again. The time for the next lap starts simultaneously.
Recording further lap times Each time you press the top part of A when the lap timer is running, the current lap time is stored and the next lap time is started simultaneously. Simply repeat this procedure to record subsequent laps.
Displaying a split time and pausing the lap timer Press the bottom part of A to display the split time. The recording of the lap time continues in the background while the split time (marked with an asterisk) is displayed. Press the bottom part of A again if you want to pause the timer. The lap timer is interrupted and the asterisk in the bottom line disappears.
Resuming recording of lap time Press the top part of A to resume lap time recording from the split time or pause mode.
Finishing the lap time session When you cross the start/finish line, press the top part of A to store the final lap time. The new lap time (which always starts simultaneously) will not be recorded if you now evaluate the lap times.
Evaluating lap times Press the "Reset" button B for about two seconds. A summary of key lap times appears in the display.
The display will show
+ the fastest lap time ― the slowest lap time Ø the average lap time
Resetting the lap timer While the overall results are shown in the display, press and hold the "Reset" button B for at least two seconds to reset all data of the lap timer to zero.

Installing E-Codes
Background: The 2009 and 2010 Audi A4 Premium comes standard with halogen headlights. It is common for people to pull out the halogen lights and retrofit Xenon headlights into their A4. There are two general versions of Xenon lamps that can be installed, the US version and the European Spec version (aka, "E-Codes"). The European version differs only in that the amber side-marker lens on the outer-side of the headlights is clear. The process for retrofitting the US version is identical to the E-Codes. Below is the information necessary to perform the retrofit. There are two types of Xenon lamps, those that turn left or right as you corner (Adaptive “AFS”) and “regular” headlights (non-AFS). The process detailed here should work for either type.
Parts Required Many of these can be purchased used together (e.g., ebay.de). Assuming you are buying each part separately, you will need the following:
[1] 1 left-side housing
• LHD (US) Non-AFS (Audi Part Number: 8K0 941 003 C
• RHD (EU) Non-AFS (Audi Part Number: 8K0 941 029 D
• Those are NOT interchangeable. They produce different beam patterns.
[2] 1 right-side housing
• LHD (US) Non-AFS (Audi Part Number: 8K0 941 004 C
• RHD (EU) Non-AFS (Audi Part Number: 8K0 941 030 D
• Those are NOT interchangeable. They produce different beam patterns.
[3] 2 LED Ballasts (Audi Part Number: 8K0907472)
[4] 2 HID Ballasts (Audi Part Number: 8K0941597)
[5] 2 D3S 35W Xenon Bulbs (OEM Color is 4300K)
[6] 1 Xenon Wiring Harness (Kufatec Part Number: 36229)

Required Tools
[1] VAG-COM Cable to modify coding
[2] TORX T-30 with optional extensions

Install Kufatec Wire
The Kufatec harness is required. It has special plugs that are needed for the Xenon lamps to function properly. The harness also has two long wires with “pins” on the end of it. These wires have to go through the firewall by the foot-well for the high-beams work. This is the hardest part of the whole installation process. If you don’t want the high-beams, still hook up the harness, just don’t run the wires. DIY Halogen to Bixenon- Conversion Complete. viewfull=1#post4867604

Assemble Headlight
If your parts are all separate, install them before you install the headlights. Be sure not to touch the Xenon bulb with your bare hands. If you do, wipe them with a clean cloth.
Install Headlight
DIY HID bulb replacements - AudiWorld Forums <NEED DETAILS>

Align Headlights
Most people will simply install the new lights and walk away happy. There is a very good chance that the new lights are out of alignment. You will need to turn the two little white screws to properly adjust the alignment. You best bet is to take it to the dealer and ask them to do it for you. If you insist on doing it yourself, look for a white 6mm hex screw on top of the ballast. Turning it clockwise will raise the beam and counter-clockwise will lower the beam.
Coding
This section assumes you are familiar with VAG-COM coding. This is not the place for a tutorial. If you are unsure, please read other tutorials or seek assistance elsewhere. For the headlights to work properly, VAG-COM coding changes must be made. It is also recommended that you do not turn on any installed headlights without the coding being performed. This becomes tricky when you use an Audi dealer for service work since they will likely wipe out your coding and this process will need to be re-performed. It is recommended that you document exactly what you did for your vehicle so it can be reproduced.

In other words...
Byte 0: Change to 26 (for xenon lights)
Byte 2: Change to 10 (enable LED DRLs)
Byte 14: Change to 1D (bi-xenon highbeams)
Byte 15: Change to 0D (bi-xenon highbeams)

Miscellaneous High Beam Notes
For your high-beams to work properly, even with the kufatec wire fully installed, you will need to have a properly coded J519 ECU unit (8K0 907 063). The coding is checked by looking at the suffix-letter to that ECU (e.g., 8K0 907 063 K). There are some reports that a J519 without a suffix or with a B-suffix will not work. The following suffix letters have been proven to work: K, N, and P. Use VAG-COM to check this for your vehicle by performing an autoscan and looking into module 09.
Miscellaneous D3S Bulb Notes
D3S bulbs do start to turn color with age. They typically have a 2-year lifespan. It is recommended that you replace both bulbs (left and right) at the same time and use the same type (make and manufacturer). You can find cheap generic bulbs out there, however, there have been reports of them not working properly and doing damage to the ballasts. It is recommended that you buy brand-name bulbs that come with a warranty. Some bulbs will even warrant the Ballasts, should the bulb be defective.
Miscellaneous FAQ
Q1: How do I turn of the side-markers in US models?
A1: Use the following coding: [09 – Cent. Elect.] > [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 10 > Submodule 0 > Bit 3 - Set to 0 (1 is ON)
Q2: Can I change the brightness of the LEDs?
A2: [09 – Cent. Elect.] > [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 3 > Bit 2 – Set to 1 (LEDs remain at full brightness with parking lights)
Q3: Can I turn off the LED strip?
A3: [09 – Cent. Elect.] > [Coding - 07] -> Long Coding Helper -> Byte 3 > Bit 7 – Set to 1 (Turn off LED-strip DRLs with indicators)
Q4: What Color D3S Can I Use?
A4: Whatever you want. The stock color is 4300K. Some people find that 5000K or 6000K give a whiter appearance that matches the LEDs better.
